Deep Space Six is an Ann Arbor-based band that has been playing to crowded venues since New Years Eve of 1992/1993. Their positive energy and improvisational jamming has made them one of Michigan's favorite dance bands. Their psychedelic style is derived from a variety of influences, ranging from rock 'n' roll to blues, jazz and country. Mainly influenced by The Grateful Dead, the band also covers a variety of late-sixties artists such as the Allman Brothers, The Rolling Stones, The Band, Bob Dylan and Van Morrison.

The dedication to the music, the original jams and the connection to the audiences makes Deep Space Six a fun band people find worth seeing again and again. In April 2002, Deep Space Six traveled to Negril, Jamaica to play on the beaches. >>Click here to read the Jamaican Journal<< In April 2000, Deep Space Six opened for JGB at Detroit's Magic Stick. During the summer of 1999 at Buckeye Lake in Ohio, they had the pleasure to play with JGB, Mickey Hart, Jefferson Starship, Merle Saunders, John Entwistle Band and Iron Butterfly in the WHEE3 Festival. Additionally, Deep Space Six performed at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park near Cleveland opening for Canned Heat (1999) and for Bernie Worrell, a former member of the Talking Heads and P-funk (2000).

During the summer of 1998, Deep Space Six opened for Ekoostik Hookah for the Summer Sun Festival at Val-Du Lakes in northern Michigan and was the main act opening night of the Grass Roots Tea Party near Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Shortly after, headlined at the Barrel House Brewing Company, in Cincinnati, Ohio. In the fall of 1997, Deep Space Six opened for Merle Saunders at Detroit's Majestic Theater, as well as Donna Jean Godchaux at the Magic Bag in Ferndale.
